Test of Protection Relays

The ATPDesigner network calculation program supports the testing of mains protection devices with CMCxxx secondary test devices from Omicron. ATPDesigner is connected to the secondary test device via an IKT (Ethernet) connection using the CMEnegine interface. With the help of the calculation of grid dynamic balancing processes, temporal voltage and current curves are calculated and transmitted to the secondary test device via ICT connection. The real-time reactions of the mains protection device are recorded with the help of the binary inputs of the secondary testing device, the protection reactions are measured and displayed in a dialoge directly in ATPDesigner.

Since the ATPDesigner grid calculation program has a generic model for decentralised generation systems based on VDE-AR-N 4110, the reactions of grid protection devices can be investigated taking into account decentralised generation systems with grid converters. In this way, field tests can be avoided. The following picture shows a test setup in the laboratory of the Institute for Electrical Energy Systems.

In der nachfolgenden Tabelle sind einige ausgewählte Unterschiede gültiger und ungültiger Normenwerke aufgeführt, um die Anforderungen an den LVRT-Betrieb Dezentraler Erzeugungsanlagen durch Normenwerke beispielhaft aufzuzeigen. Mit Hilfe des Netzberechnungsprogramms ATPDesigner können die Reaktionen von Netzschutzeinrichtungen mit Hilfe eines generischen Modells für Dezentrale Erzeugungsanlagen im Labor untersucht werden.
